Animal Assisted Therapy

Animal assisted therapy is a therapeutic intervention that incorporates animals, such as horses, dogs, cats, and birds, into treatment.
It is used to enhance traditional therapeutic benefits.  


Horses and dogs are utilised within a therapeutic setting to help clients develop relational, interpersonal, reflective and communication skills.

Research into the fields of animal assisted therapy has shown positive results for clients who are dealing with a number of mental health and life issues including:

  • Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)

  • Eating disorders

  • Parenting issues

  • Substance abuse and addictions

  • Depression and anxiety

  • Stress

  • Autism and Neurodiversity

  • ADHD

  • Relationship difficulties

  • Attachment issues

  • Low self-esteem

  • Negative behavioural issues.
